Czech developers advance drone technology for accident investigation and rescue

Czech developers and municipal IT specialists are advancing drone technology for specialized use cases. The Plzeň Information Technology Administration won a national award for its ‘Crash Inspector VR’ application. This tool uses drones to create high-precision 3D models and orthophotos of traffic accident sites, allowing investigators and experts to virtually revisit and analyze scenes from any perspective.

Separately, a team of engineers from the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) and a development firm has created an autonomous AI-powered drone designed for search and rescue. The 13-kilogram drone can navigate complex environments like forests or rubble using voice commands to locate specific targets, such as injured persons. The project, which avoids Chinese components to ensure European technological sovereignty, placed second in a prestigious international competition.
