Czech autonomous and AI technology developments

Czech researchers and developers are advancing autonomous systems and artificial intelligence across military, rescue, and investigative sectors.

In defense technology, the TAROS unmanned ground vehicle successfully performed autonomous supply missions during military exercises in Portugal. This six-wheeled platform utilizes LiDAR sensors for navigation in difficult terrain. Additionally, the EMPAT project, a collaboration involving Brno University of Technology and Lockheed Martin, is researching AI to monitor the cognitive load of military pilots by analyzing speech patterns and physiological data.

Developments in drone technology include the ‘Crash Inspector VR’ application, which uses drones to generate 3D models of traffic accident sites for virtual investigation. Furthermore, engineers from the Czech Technical University have developed an autonomous, AI-powered search and rescue drone capable of navigating complex environments via voice commands. This drone project specifically avoids Chinese components to maintain European technological sovereignty.
