Czech diesel and gasoline prices surge after price cap ends

Following the end of the state‑imposed fuel price caps on 19 July, diesel and gasoline prices have risen across the Czech Republic. In the Liberec Region diesel now costs about 44 CZK per litre, roughly 10 CZK more than a year ago, while gasoline is about 8 CZK higher than last year. The Olomouc Region reports a diesel price of 44 CZK per litre, up 1.77 CZK from the previous week, and gasoline at 42.37 CZK per litre.

The price regulation, introduced in April to curb rapid fuel‑price growth linked to rising oil prices after the outbreak of fighting in the Middle East, was lifted on 19 July. Market‑monitoring firm CCS tracks the changes, noting a national average diesel price of 43.90 CZK/l and gasoline at 42.33 CZK/l. The cheapest diesel is now found in the Pardubice Region, while the highest prices remain in Prague.

These increases affect motorists nationwide, raising daily travel costs and reflecting broader energy‑price pressures.
