Czech driver survey identifies six profiles for EV suitability

A survey conducted by E.ON and Volkswagen has categorized Czech drivers into six distinct profiles based on their real-world driving habits and annual mileage. The study aims to determine how different usage patterns influence the suitability of electric vehicles (EVs).

According to the findings, regional commuters and urban couriers—comprising 40.9% of Czech drivers—would find a transition to electric vehicles seamless without changing their current habits. An additional 45.2% of drivers could successfully use an EV provided they have access to regular charging at home, work, or other common locations.

The six identified profiles include:

• Road Chameleons (45.2%): Drivers with varying routines; EVs are suitable if charging is accessible. • Regional Commuters (28.9%): Drivers with consistent regional routes; EVs are an excellent choice. • Urban Couriers (12.0%): Drivers performing short city trips; EVs are a suitable choice. • Cottage Owners (7.9%): Drivers with low weekday mileage and weekend trips; EVs are suitable with planning. • Line Drivers (5.1%): Drivers with high mileage and regular intercity travel; EVs are an excellent choice. • Highway Wolves (0.9%): Drivers with very high mileage and frequent long-distance or international trips; EVs are suitable with planning.
