Czech electric car sales hit new record as Škoda draws customers from Tesla and BMW

The share of electric vehicles in the Czech Republic rose to 8.1% of new registrations in June, up from 6.3% between January and May. By the end of June, 72,200 pure‑electric passenger cars were on the road, with 15,300 added in the first half of the year; 44% of that increase came from imported used vehicles. Škoda led the market with 2,800 of the 8,500 newly purchased EVs, followed by Tesla with 1,400 and Mercedes‑Benz with 400.

Škoda executive Martin Jahn said the company is pulling customers away from Tesla and BMW and that the upcoming Fabia model will no longer be priced at 300,000 CZK, signalling a competitive push in the domestic EV segment.
