Czech energy regulators gain price transparency as E.ON lowers tariffs

The Czech Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ) has implemented new reporting requirements that provide unprecedented transparency into the actual electricity and gas prices paid by consumers. Under a new monitoring decree, major energy suppliers—covering approximately 98 percent of Czech households—must submit detailed data regarding their customer contracts and pricing. This initiative aims to give the regulator a clearer understanding of existing market contracts.

In a related market development, energy provider E.ON has introduced new fixed-rate tariffs for new customers. The company reported that its current electricity and gas prices are approximately 140 CZK per megawatt-hour lower than they were in March of this year. These fixed rates can be secured for up to three years, offering price stability despite ongoing volatility and upward trends in wholesale energy markets.
