Central European energy and retail sectors face regulatory shifts

Energy markets in Central Europe are undergoing significant regulatory and structural shifts. In Slovakia, the regulator ÚRSO has adjusted system service tariffs (TSS) for the Slovak Electricity Transmission System (SEPS), with rates decreasing for high-consumption industrial users (above 1,000 MWh) starting October 2026.

In the Czech Republic, the Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ) has issued new price determinations regarding mandatory purchasing and energy origin guarantees. Recent data indicates rising costs for households, with electricity and gas prices seeing increases of 14% and 20% respectively for new or refixed contracts. Additionally, a new tariff structure for medium and high-voltage distributors will take effect in 2027, placing greater emphasis on peak power consumption.

Prague is advancing its energy management through solar energy expansion and electricity sharing between municipal organizations. The city is also seeking legislative changes to increase the number of permitted participants in energy-sharing groups from 11 to 60.

In the retail sector, Pepco Group reported strong preliminary results for fiscal year 2026, with expected annual revenues exceeding €4.5 billion and a projected net profit growth of over 60%.
