StarDance hosts spark political debate following Czech media fee proposal
During a fairy-tale themed episode of the Czech television show StarDance, hosts Marek Eben and Tereza Kostková addressed recent political developments. Following a proposal by the ANO, SPD, and Motorist coalitions to abolish radio and television fees, Eben used themed humor to comment on the situation, stating, “we believe that in the end good will triumph and that the devil will take all the evil ones.” Kostková supported the sentiment, noting the power of such symbolism.
These remarks drew sharp criticism from MEP Kateřina Konečná, who labeled the broadcast “part of the propaganda machinery of ČT” and criticized the show for containing political jabs at the government.
On the competition front, the episode featured various performances, including critiques of professional dancers like Daniel Makovec, and saw the elimination of Michal Kurtiš and stuntwoman Hana Dvorská.
