Czech film festivals honor local stars and unveil globally diverse line‑ups
The Zlín Film Festival will expand its Hall of Fame on 2 June 2026, unveiling stars Kristýna Badinková Nováková and Martin Písařík as the 45th and 46th honourees. Festival organizers highlighted Badková Nováková’s early debut in *Výchova dívek v Čechách* and her continued success in theatre and television, while Písařík was praised for his long‑standing acting and dubbing career.
At the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, artistic director Karel Och presented the main programme for the 60th edition, featuring about 40 titles. The slate emphasizes geographical variety, with world‑premiere films such as the Serbian‑Bulgarian drama “3 Weeks After”, the Bulgarian‑Greek co‑production “Black Money for White”, the Czech‑French‑Slovak story “Chica Checa”, and the Colombian‑US feature “Five Years, Four Months”. The director line‑up aims to explore the relationship between art, politics, intimacy and society.
Both festivals underline the Czech Republic’s role as a hub for celebrating established talent and promoting international cinematic voices.
