Czech Finance Ministry caps fuel prices for mid‑May 2026

The Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic issued circulars setting maximum retail prices for regulated motor fuels in May 2026. For the period 16‑18 May, the cap was 44.30 CZK per litre (including VAT) for automotive gasoline (95‑octane, up to 10 % bio‑fuel, E10/E5) and 41.99 CZK per litre for motor diesel (B7, up to 7 % bio‑fuel). A separate circular for 15 May set the gasoline cap at 44.22 CZK per litre and diesel at 42.03 CZK per litre. The limits are calculated based on the Ministry’s price formula, using weekly averaging of market indexes (MOL, Unipetrol, Platts) and applicable exchange rates. The caps apply to publicly accessible service stations and aim to stabilise consumer fuel costs during that time frame.
