Czech fuel prices rise after government price caps end

The Czech government ended its temporary price caps on gasoline and diesel on Sunday, allowing stations to set prices freely. Data from CCS show the average price of Natural 95 gasoline rose by about 0.10 CZK per litre to 41.65 CZK, while diesel increased by roughly 0.77 CZK to 40.76 CZK per litre.

In the city of Jihlava, stations such as Tank ONO, EuroOil, Shell and Tesco reported prices still below the former caps, with gasoline ranging from 39.90 CZK to 41.90 CZK per litre and diesel from 39.20 CZK to 41.90 CZK. Analysts expect further increases, especially for diesel, as the consumption tax returns to its original 9.95 CZK per litre and wholesale prices adjust. One expert predicted a possible rise of 0.50‑1.20 CZK for gasoline and 2.80‑3.60 CZK for diesel in the coming weeks.
