Czech gambling losses reach 68 billion CZK amid rising youth addiction

Czech players lost 68 billion CZK to gambling in 2025, representing a 7% increase compared to the previous year. Online gambling continues to expand, now accounting for 60% of operators' revenue.

While the rate of problematic gambling among adults remains relatively stable—affecting an estimated 220,000 to 275,000 people—authorities have noted a concerning upward trend among adolescents. The National Monitoring Center for Addictions highlighted the need for increased attention toward online gaming trends among young people.

To combat addiction, the Government Council for the Coordination of Addiction Policy has approved 415 million CZK to fund addiction services for 2027. Managed by the Ministry of Health, these funds aim to maintain the stability and accessibility of prevention, treatment, and social risk reduction services across the country. As of late 2025, approximately 243,000 individuals were registered in the gambling exclusion registry, including 60,000 who applied for exclusion voluntarily.
