Czech government approves 71.3 billion CZK D35 highway project
The Czech government has approved a concession agreement for the completion of the D35 highway between Opatovec and Mohelnice. The project, valued at 71.32 billion CZK, will be executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The contract was awarded to the ViAlliance35 consortium, comprising Cintra Global SE, Strabag Motorway GmbH, Budimex S.A., and Invesis B.V. The consortium will be responsible for the construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of 35.4 kilometers of new highway, as well as the maintenance of an additional 17 kilometers between Litomyšl and Opatovec.
Key infrastructure includes the Dětřichov tunnel, which at 3,968 meters will become the longest highway tunnel in the Czech Republic, and the 1,312.5-meter Maletín tunnel. If the Chamber of Deputies approves the agreement, preparatory work could begin this year. Following financial closure, expected in early 2027, construction is slated for completion by 2031 or 2032, providing a northern alternative to the heavily congested D1 motorway.
