Czech Government approves seasonal time changes through 2031

The practice of switching between summer and winter time will continue for at least another five years. The Czech government has approved the continuation of time changes through 2031, following European Parliament directives.

While the European Parliament moved to end the practice as early as 2019, EU member states have struggled to reach a consensus on which permanent time zone should be adopted. Disagreements persist between those preferring Central European Time and those favoring the daylight savings adjustment to maximize evening light.

Experts note that these shifts disrupt human circadian rhythms. Parents, in particular, have expressed significant frustration, noting that the biannual changes disrupt the strict routines required by young children and impact biological clocks.
