Czech government freezes road‑toll sticker prices for 2027

The Czech cabinet approved a draft amendment to the Roads Act that eliminates the automatic annual re‑valuation of electronic road‑toll stickers. If the bill passes the Chamber of Deputies, the price of a 2027 annual sticker will remain at 2 570 CZK (30‑day 480 CZK, 10‑day 300 CZK, 1‑day 230 CZK).

Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik said the sticker price had risen by more than 70 % since 2023, making Czech rates comparable to neighbouring Austria. The amendment also keeps existing discounts for low‑emission vehicles – electric, hydrogen, plug‑in hybrids and CNG/LNG‑powered cars – which will continue unchanged in 2027.

Parliament will now discuss the proposal, while a Senate initiative seeks to replace the calendar‑day daily sticker with a 24‑hour version. The state collects significant revenue from stickers – 8.7 billion CZK in 2023 and over 3.6 billion CZK by April 2024 – earmarked for the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and road construction projects. The ministry also announced a new official e‑shop on the gov.cz domain to protect drivers from fraudulent sellers.
