Czech government revises single‑parent benefit system under new “superdávka” program

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is transitioning to a new "superdávka" system that consolidates several existing social benefits for single‑parent households. Under the new formula, families with low income, small children and high housing costs may receive higher support, while single parents with children over seven who are not employed could lose entitlement. The government plans further adjustments to extend eligibility to children up to age fifteen. The benefit now includes a housing component, an energy‑cost allowance, and a child‑bonus whose exact calculation has not been disclosed. Unpaid alimony is also factored into the assessment. Critics note that the lack of transparency in the bonus formula makes it difficult for affected families to anticipate changes.
