Czech government sets new weekly caps on gasoline and diesel prices

The Czech Ministry of Finance announced maximum retail prices for gasoline (Natural 95) and diesel for the weekend of 27‑29 June. The cap for gasoline was set at 40.46 CZK per litre, up from 40.42 CZK, while diesel may be sold for up to 36.40 CZK, up from 36.22 CZK. Fuel stations cannot charge higher amounts, although premium fuels remain unregulated.

In the Liberec region, fuel prices fell for a fourth consecutive week, with the average price of gasoline at 38.84 CZK per litre and diesel at 35.42 CZK. Prices across the Czech Republic have been declining after earlier spikes linked to the Middle‑East conflict. The government also reduced the excise tax on diesel by 1.939 CZK per litre (2.35 CZK after VAT), contributing to the lower retail price.

These measures are part of the price‑regulation regime introduced in April to curb rapid fuel‑price increases and to limit the maximum amount stations may charge.
