Czech heat slows mushroom foraging and grain harvest

High temperatures across the Czech Republic in early June 2026 sharply reduced mushroom growth. The Czech Statistical Office released June harvest estimates of 7.69 million tonnes of basic cereals. Farmers warn that the recent heat and lack of soil moisture could lower yields of barley, wheat and other crops, with analysts expecting a percent‑level drop that will vary by region. While some crops still posted higher outputs than the previous year, drought remains a key risk to the overall harvest.
