Czech highway D6 bridge rebuild and Route 430 works cause closures, red‑light offences
The Central Bohemian Region will reconstruct the bridge over highway D6 near Nový Strašecí. Work begins 15 May 2026 and includes two 20‑minute full closures each Saturday (13 June and 25 July) between 02:00‑03:00, with traffic reduced to a single lane and speed limited to 80 km/h. The upgraded bridge, 90 m long and rated for 75 t, is expected to be completed by 23 October 2026 at a cost of about CZK 47.7 million.
On a separate project, police monitoring a partial closure of road 430 between Rohlenka and Holubice recorded 19 drivers running red lights, including a streak of six vehicles at once. The violations occurred during alternating one‑lane traffic imposed for road‑surface repairs that began in March and will continue until mid‑June. Drivers face fines of CZK 4,500‑5,500 and six penalty points.
Both incidents highlight the safety challenges posed by temporary traffic arrangements during road‑work projects in the Czech Republic.
