Czech initiatives target youth mental health and digital safety

Efforts to address the mental health and digital safety of children are gaining momentum in the Czech Republic through specialized workshops and professional conferences.

In Hradec Králové, the non-profit organization Lajfr hosted a workshop for parents titled ‘Neformál: SexEd zvládnutý jako králové’. The session focused on helping parents navigate sensitive topics such as internet risks and sexual education without shame or awkwardness. The program provided practical communication tools to help parents discuss digital trends and online threats with their children.

Simultaneously, experts are gathering in Mariánské Lázně to address the rising psychological pressures on students. Data from the National Institute of Mental Health indicates a significant trend: approximately 40 percent of monitored students show signs of moderate to severe depression, while 30 percent exhibit signs of anxiety. The upcoming conference aims to bring together educators, psychologists, and medical professionals to develop preventative measures and better support systems within schools.
