Czech Ministry of Agriculture announces 3.8 billion CZK drought relief
The Czech Ministry of Agriculture has announced a relief package exceeding 3.8 billion CZK to assist farmers struggling with drought, high costs, and feed shortages. The aid is scheduled to be distributed during the first half of next year.
The funding will be sourced from a combination of European Union budgets and national funds. Specifically, approximately 800 million CZK will be provided to mitigate the impact of rising fuel and fertilizer prices through extraordinary European support supplemented by national financing. Additionally, about 2 billion CZK will be allocated via the EU's temporary crisis framework, targeting intensive livestock production and sensitive crop growers.
The ministry is also preparing to strengthen national subsidy programs for the most vulnerable sectors by more than 1 billion CZK. To ensure rapid assistance, farmers will receive advances on agricultural subsidies at the maximum level allowed by EU rules, which is 75 percent.
