Czech 2026 grain and rapeseed harvest
Overview
In late July 2026 Czech authorities reported that just over half of the cereal area and about two‑thirds of the rapeseed area had been harvested. Yields were already projected to be lower than the previous year because of hail, heavy rain, spring frosts and a dry summer.
By July 27, official data showed more than 50 % of cereal fields and roughly 65 % of rapeseed fields cut, with the fastest progress in South Moravia and Zlín. The Czech Statistical Office estimated the 2024 cereal harvest at 6.47 million tonnes—15.9 % below 2023—and rapeseed output at 847 000 t, 17.1 % lower.
Early August saw a rapid acceleration, reaching over 80 % of grain and nearly 88 % of rapeseed fields. However, the Czech Statistical Office later estimated the final grain harvest at 6.39 million tonnes, a 16.9 % drop—the lowest in 14 years—while rapeseed was projected at 808 000 t, more than 20 % down and the weakest in 21 years. Basic cereal production is expected to fall about 17 % year‑on‑year, with potential farmer revenue losses of 8‑20 billion CZK. Existing grain stocks and possible imports should limit immediate consumer‑price pressure, but prolonged drought could raise feed and ingredient costs later in the year.
