Czech Ministry of Health updates EZKarta app for medical screenings

The Czech Ministry of Health has launched an updated version of the EZKarta mobile application, designed to provide citizens with greater access to their medical data. The new features allow users to view laboratory test results and track their eligibility for preventive screenings, such as cancer screenings for colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer.

Users can also manage profiles for minor children or authorized adult relatives. While the app aims to simplify healthcare management, full functionality depends on physician participation. Currently, approximately 2,500 out of 5,000 doctors are connected to the system, with officials aiming for 100 percent integration by the end of the year.

Future updates planned for the application include electronic requests for medical examinations, which are intended to become mandatory by July 2027 following legislative approval. The National Association of Patient Organizations (NAPO) has welcomed the development, noting it could reduce the burden on chronic patients who currently must manually transport medical documentation between providers.
