Czech motorway rest areas expanded on D1 and D11

The Czech Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has opened new and modernized rest areas on the D11 and D1 motorways. On the D11 near Předměřice nad Labem, a new bilateral rest area has been completed at a cost of 163 million CZK (excluding VAT). This facility provides spaces for passenger cars, trucks, buses, and caravans.

Additionally, a major modernization of a rest area near Vyškov on the D1 motorway has been completed. This site now offers nearly 90 spaces for passenger cars and approximately 80 for trucks, alongside amenities such as a playground, outdoor gym, and a police checkpoint. The project cost 173 million CZK.

These developments are part of a broader strategic plan by ŘSD to nearly double the number of highway parking spaces by 2031, specifically addressing the long-term shortage of parking for heavy goods vehicles. Meanwhile, the highway police unit in Pravy, which has operated since 2006, continues to manage safety and security along the D11, evolving from a small team of eight officers to a modernized unit handling accidents, traffic enforcement, and theft prevention.
