Czech MP Filip Turek under police probe for extremist posts and July traffic crash

The Czech police concluded that a number of Filip Turek’s social‑media posts from 2010‑2017 constitute criminal offences, including hate speech, public endorsement of murder and a Nazi salute. Because the acts are time‑barred, prosecutors cannot bring charges, and Turek argues that only the courts can decide guilt.

Separately, police opened a criminal investigation after a July 13 incident in which Turek’s Mercedes struck an ambulance, injuring the driver. Investigators are examining possible negligence and have ordered a forensic examination, though no one has yet been charged.

Turek responded to the police findings by stating, “In the Czech Republic courts decide. The court, as far as I know, has not taken place.” European Parliament member Tomáš Zdechovský sharply criticized him, calling the Motoristů party “human waste.”
