Czech MP Filip Turk Faces Calls for Removal Over Helmet‑less Ride

Member of Parliament Filip Turk of the Motoristé party drew criticism after a traffic incident in which he rode a motorcycle without a helmet. Businessman and philanthropist Jan Dobrovský posted on X suggesting that a court should strip Turk of his legal capacity, noting that such a measure would prevent him from being punished and could ease pressure on the Motoristé. Other users responded, arguing that riding without a helmet endangers only the rider, whereas Turk’s alleged crash could have harmed other road users, including a medical vehicle and pedestrians.

Policemen confirmed that temporary yellow road markings, which have priority over permanent white markings, were in place at the site, and that the traffic signs complied with regulations. Turk contested claims that he used a turning lane, insisting he was not in a turn lane and that his actions saved a driver of an ambulance. The debate has escalated on social media, with both critics and supporters of the MP weighing in on the incident and its legal implications.
