Czech MP Filip Turke involved in Prague ambulance crash

Police are still investigating the collision that occurred in central Prague involving MP Filip Turke of the Motoristé party and a hospital ambulance. Traffic officers are analysing camera footage and questioning witnesses, and have not yet determined responsibility. Legal experts say the case could be treated as a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the severity of injuries to the ambulance driver, who remains on sick leave.

Turke’s party colleague Matěj Gregor defended him, calling the incident a media bubble and warning against politicising the matter, while opposition parties have called for Turke’s resignation. The German newspaper FAZ reported that the accident may end Turke’s political career, noting his controversial past and the potential impact of the crash on the Motoristé’s public image. The crash involved Turke’s Mercedes G‑Class striking the ambulance, which was transporting biological material, and there were reports that the ambulance driver sustained an arm injury.

No official charges have been filed, and the investigation will decide whether criminal proceedings are warranted.
