Czech municipalities modernize schools and install solar panels

The city of Česká Lípa is completing planning work for a major overhaul of the ZŠ and MŠ Jižní school complex. The renovation will replace windows and doors, insulate the façade and roof, upgrade lighting, heating, water and electrical systems, and add forced‑ventilation and improved air handling in the cafeteria. Photovoltaic panels will be installed on two pavilions, a green roof created, rain‑water reuse introduced, and barrier‑free access provided. The project, together with other school repairs and a new multifunctional playground, brings the total investment for three schools to over 10 million CZK.

In the Pardubický region, Governor Martin Netolický reported that photovoltaic installations are now operating at 24 public institutions, including 12 secondary‑school buildings. The solar farms aim to reduce energy costs for schools, hospitals and social‑service facilities, allowing saved funds to be redirected to teaching resources and equipment. A notable example is the automotive technical school in Holice, where modern energy technologies have become part of the curriculum.
