Czech nature conservation and sustainable tourism initiatives
Efforts to promote sustainable tourism and nature conservation are underway in various Czech protected regions. The ‘Turistika beze stop’ (Tourism without a trace) project, a collaboration with e. ON, highlights eco-friendly routes in areas such as Šumava and Zlaté Hory. In Šumava, routes focus on environmental education and local history, while in Zlaté Hory, trails explore the landscape shaped by medieval gold mining.
In the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area, nature conservation officers and the Police of the Czech Republic have launched joint patrols during the summer tourist season. These patrols monitor compliance with nature protection laws—such as preventing unauthorized camping, fires, or off-trail movement—while simultaneously providing guidance and information to visitors to ensure a safe and respectful experience in the protected environment.
