Czech nature conservation and tourism initiatives
Overview
Conservation and sustainable tourism efforts are being implemented across various Czech regions through both international partnerships and domestic initiatives.
A cross-border project titled “Network for Nature” has launched, involving the Czech association Čmelák and Germany’s Naturschutzzentrum Zittauer Gebirge. Funded by the EU Interreg Czech-Saxon programme, this three-year initiative aims to establish at least ten partnerships for biodiversity restoration and nature protection in the Liberec, Ústí nad Labem, and Karlovy Vary regions, as well as Saxony. The project provides approximately €666,410 to help small NGOs overcome administrative and language barriers through a support centre and web catalogue.
Domestically, the ‘Turistika beze stop’ (Tourism without a trace) project is promoting eco-friendly routes in areas like Šumava and Zlaté Hory to emphasize environmental education. Additionally, in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area, nature conservation officers and the Police of the Czech Republic have begun joint summer patrols to monitor compliance with protection laws and guide visitors.
