Filip Dvořák expelled from ODS as party prepares Prague 1 municipal candidacy

The executive council of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) voted unanimously to terminate the membership of Filip Dvořák, the long‑time leader of the party’s Prague 1 local organization. The council cited serious breach of party statutes, including damaging the party’s reputation and ignoring internal decisions. Despite Dvořák’s removal, ODS confirmed it will still present a candidate list for the upcoming municipal elections in Prague 1, with the regional council tasked with assembling the slate.

Dvořák, who has been a party member since 1991 and previously served on ODS’s national executive, described the expulsion as the result of unfounded media allegations and a pre‑determined process, insisting he has never been charged or investigated. The move follows a period of tension after Dvořák’s controversial candidacy for mayor of Prague 1 and his criticism of the party’s leadership, reflecting broader internal disputes within ODS over corruption and strategic direction.
