Czech police arrest duo for series of Renault van thefts

Czech police have apprehended a duo responsible for a series of sophisticated thefts involving Renault Master vans. The investigation, which has been ongoing since August of last year, revealed that the pair successfully stole 13 vans and attempted to steal seven others across multiple regions, including Trutnov, Hradec Králové, Liberec, and Prague.

The suspects utilized a consistent method, using force to overcome driver-side door locks to gain entry. If they could successfully start the vehicle, they fled; otherwise, the vehicles were left significantly damaged. The total damage is estimated at 13 million CZK.

Following a police raid in the Liberec region, a 40-year-old foreign national was placed in custody by a court in Trutnov. He faces charges of continuous theft in complicity and property damage, while the 30-year-old accomplice faces charges of theft in complicity. Both suspects have denied involvement in the crimes.
