Czech police in Tachov target overloaded van and drunk driver
Traffic police in the Tachov district of the Czech Republic stopped a van whose actual weight was measured at 7,791 kg, more than double the legal limit of 3,500 kg. The driver was fined 15,000 CZK and ordered to off‑load the excess cargo before the vehicle could continue.
In a separate check, a female driver was found with a breath‑alcohol level exceeding two promille, and another motorist tested positive for THC. Police spokesperson Veronika Hokrová reiterated a zero‑tolerance policy for alcohol and other psychoactive substances behind the wheel, noting that the woman faces criminal charges for endangering traffic.
Both incidents illustrate the intensified enforcement actions by Czech police in the region, targeting overloaded vehicles and substance‑impaired driving.
