Czech police target illegal and speeding drivers

Since 1 June, Czech traffic police have uncovered 22 cases of drivers operating vehicles despite court‑ordered bans or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The offenders include individuals whose licences were suspended by a court and those suspected of endangering traffic while intoxicated.

In a separate incident, Rychnov police stopped a 39‑year‑old Mercedes driver near Doudleb nad Orlicí who was travelling 161 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, exceeding the limit by 71 km/h. He failed to cooperate, was stripped of his licence, and was required to pay a 7,000 CZK deposit. The case has been referred to administrative proceedings, where he faces a fine of 7,000–25,000 CZK, a driving ban of 6–18 months and six penalty points.
