Czech police to conduct border security exercise with Slovakia

The Czech police, along with military reserves and customs officers, will conduct a large-scale security exercise along the border with Slovakia. The 24-hour operation is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and conclude at 7:00 AM on Thursday.

Over 600 police officers, 50 active military reserves, and 60 customs officials will participate in the drill, which covers a 251-kilometer stretch of the border. The exercise includes random inspections of vehicles and passengers at 17 former road border crossings, as well as checks on international trains and along the ‘green border’ (non-official crossing points).

While authorities do not expect major traffic disruptions, minor delays may occur during peak travel times. The operation will involve personnel from the South Moravian, Moravian-Silesian, and Zlín regional police directorates, alongside mobile units from the Foreign Police Service.
