Czech police use hidden high‑spot radars and coordinated raids to catch speeding drivers

Czech police can measure vehicle speed from hundreds of metres away using devices placed on bridges, overpasses or other elevated structures, making the radar invisible to drivers. Units may operate from a high spot while another squad intercepts the vehicle later.

The practice is routine and not limited to highways; it is also applied in city streets. Police spokesperson David Schön said the method is normal and depends on selecting a safe measurement location. Recent operations include a large‑scale raid confiscating radars and warning drivers to expect strict speed enforcement.
