Czech railway infrastructure undergoes major modernization
Správa železnic has announced the completion of the modernization project at the Hrádek nad Nisou railway station. The upgrades include a new platform, a barrier-free underpass, and a reconstructed station building with a new waiting area. The project was part of a larger 1.24 billion CZK initiative to modernize the rail connection between Liberec, Chrastava, and Hrádek nad Nisou, aimed at improving safety and passenger comfort for regional and cross-border traffic toward Germany and Poland.
In Prague, reconstruction work continues at the Smíchov station. New and renovated platforms have opened to facilitate ongoing construction, while other platforms have closed to allow for further development. The station's complete reconstruction is expected to be finished by the end of 2028. This project includes the construction of a new bus terminal in cooperation with the Prague City Hall and the eventual renovation of the historic station building between 2029 and 2031.
