Czech regions launch new bridge projects to replace aging structures

In the South Moravian town of Břeclav, a new bridge linking the city centre with Poštorná was opened to two‑way traffic for cars, motorcycles and cyclists on Thursday, with an official ceremony scheduled for Monday, 10 August. The old bridge, which had been in a deteriorated state for years, will be demolished after traffic is shifted to a provisional crossing.

Meanwhile, the Moravian‑Silesian Region announced that the existing bridge in Jablunkov will be demolished on Monday, 10 July, with traffic rerouted onto a ready‑made provisional bridge. The new bridge, funded entirely by the regional budget at a cost of about 40 million CZK, is designed as a single‑span structure without a central pier and is expected to be completed by April 2027. Construction will be carried out by STRABAG, which has a 320‑day contract for the project.
