Czech Republic and Slovakia adjust fuel price caps amid market shifts

In Slovakia, average diesel fell to €1.485 per litre, a weekly decline of 4.1 cents, while premium diesel dropped to €1.685. Regular gasoline (95) rose modestly by 1.2 cents to €1.665, and premium gasoline fell by 1.8 cents to €1.833. Compared with the same period last year, all fuel prices remain higher, though diesel is 13.5 % cheaper than the EU average.

In the Czech Republic, the government announced a rise in the daily fuel price ceiling for Friday: gasoline will cost 40.93 CZK per litre, 29 haléřů higher, and diesel 37.01 CZK, 27 haléřů higher. The cap, introduced in April to curb price spikes after the Israel‑USA attack on Iran and the closure of the Hormuz Strait, has been extended to 19 July. A temporary reduction in diesel consumption tax remains in place, while gasoline tax is unchanged.
