Czech Republic announces major road and highway infrastructure investments
The Czech Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) is launching significant infrastructure projects, including a 121.5 million CZK reconstruction of the I/60 road in the Olomouc region. This project, awarded to STRABAG a. s., aims to repair damage caused by catastrophic floods in September 2024. The work will cover a five-kilometer stretch between Lipová-lázně and Vápenná, involving new road surfaces, retaining walls, and improved signage to increase safety and resilience.
On a broader scale, the Czech government is planning a major expansion of the national road network. A proposed budget allocates 87 billion CZK to ŘSD for the upcoming year, intended for the construction of 154 kilometers of new highways and first-class roads. Key priority projects include sections of the D6, D35, D52, and D55 motorways. If the budget is approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the focus will remain on increasing capacity to support the national economy and improve transport accessibility.
