Czech average wages rise 6.4% to 51,966 CZK in Q2

Czech average wages rose by 6.4% year-on-year in the second quarter, reaching 51,966 CZK. After accounting for 2% inflation, real wages grew by 4.3%. This marks a continued trend of real wage growth since early 2024.

Regional disparities remain significant. Prague maintains the highest average wage at 66,459 CZK, while the Karlovy Vary region reports the lowest at 44,476 CZK. Sectoral differences are also pronounced: information and communication activities lead with over 90,000 CZK, whereas the accommodation and catering sector remains the lowest at approximately 30,394 CZK. Administrative and support activities saw the highest growth rate at 16.6%.

Inflation data for August shows a preliminary increase to 1.9%, slightly below the Czech National Bank's target. While falling food prices have helped curb inflation, rising fuel costs and service price growth remain factors. Economists note that while wage momentum is high, recent statistical revisions for the first quarter have slightly lowered the perceived inflationary pressure from the labor market.
