Křečovice forest and field fire in Benešov district contained
A fire broke out before 16:00 in the Poličany part of Křečovice (Benešov district) and quickly spread to nearby cottages, a garden house and surrounding fields, affecting an area of almost five hectares. The incident prompted the commander to declare the highest fire‑alert level, which was later reduced step‑by‑step to the basic level by the evening.
Thirty‑one fire units, dozens of firefighters and a police helicopter equipped with a bambi‑bag were deployed. Two firefighters suffered heat‑related illness and were hospitalized. A helicopter with a bambi‑bag assisted in suppressing the blaze, and the fire was fully extinguished after the alert level was lowered to the first level. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the extent of the damage has not yet been assessed.
