Czech Republic Begins 40‑Million‑CZK Repair of I/37 Near D1 Highway

The Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has started a two‑stage reconstruction of the heavily used I/37 section between Osová Bítýška and the D1 motorway near Velká Bíteš. The project, costing just under 40 million Czech crowns, addresses a surface that has reached the end of its service life after daily traffic of about 10,000 vehicles, including heavy trucks.

The first stage covers roughly 1.5 km from Velká Bíteš to Osová Bítýška, with work commencing on 3 August and traffic managed by temporary traffic lights. The second stage will involve a full closure of exit 162 at Velká Bíteš, with the exit closed to Brno‑bound traffic from 31 August to 22 September and to Prague‑bound traffic from 23 September to 26 October. The entire reconstruction is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2024.
