Czech Republic heat wave pushes temperatures to 30 °C as forecast extends

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) warns that a high‑pressure ridge will keep central Europe warm through the weekend and into early next week. Forecasts call for mostly sunny skies and daytime highs of 25 °C to 30 °C across most of the country, with isolated peaks of 31 °C to 33 °C on Tuesday. Rain will be scarce, with only occasional brief showers in the north‑east, and fire risk remains elevated.

In neighbouring Slovakia, a sudden arctic air influx caused an unusually cold morning, with temperatures dropping to about +4 °C in several inland locations. Health officials also reported deteriorating water quality at several lakes and reservoirs, citing elevated cyanobacteria and algae levels that pose a risk to sensitive groups.

Both services stress staying hydrated, using sunscreen, and carrying water for outdoor activities, while residents in the Czech north‑east should keep an umbrella handy for possible brief showers.
