Czech Republic D35 motorway project moves toward construction
The Czech government is set to review the concession agreement for the completion of the D35 motorway, a major 35.4-kilometer project connecting Opatovec to Mohelnice. The project will be executed through a public-private partnership (PPP) by the ViAlliance35 consortium, which includes Cintra Global SE, STRABAG Motorway GmbH, Budimex, and Invesis.
The winning bid is valued at approximately 71.32 billion CZK, representing the present value of future payments for construction, financing, operation, and maintenance. The project includes the construction of two significant tunnels: the nearly four-kilometer Dětřichov tunnel and the 1.3-kilometer Maletín tunnel.
Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik stated that the tender results were not challenged by unsuccessful bidders. If the agreement is approved by the government and Parliament, preparatory construction work could begin as early as the end of this year, with completion expected within 70 months. The D35 is intended to serve as a northern alternative to the heavily congested D1 motorway.
