In the Czech Republic, experts have calculated the required dignified wage to cover essential living costs, including housing, energy, food, healthcare, and social participation. The estimated dignified wage is 48,336 CZK gross per month. In major cities like Prague and Brno, where housing costs are significantly higher, this figure rises to 56,912 CZK gross.

This figure differs from the state-mandated minimum wage, which currently stands at 22,400 CZK gross. While the minimum wage serves as a legal protection against extreme exploitation, the dignified wage is an independent professional estimate intended to allow for a socially acceptable standard of living and a financial reserve for emergencies.

Additionally, Czech labor laws provide specific protections regarding overtime. Employees working beyond their scheduled hours are entitled to a minimum 25% supplement to their average hourly wage for standard workdays, while weekend work typically commands a 50% bonus. Employers may offer time off in lieu of payment, but only with the employee's consent; if not taken within three months, the overtime must be paid out.
