Czech Republic Ends Month-Long Elevated Fire Danger in Ústí Region
The Ústecký kraj in the Czech Republic lifted the elevated fire‑danger warning after nearly a month of heightened risk. The alert, issued at the request of firefighters, restricted open‑air burning, use of flammable materials and fireworks during the dry period.
In the national park Český Švýcarsko the fire‑risk level has been reduced to medium, allowing visitors between 06:00 and 22:00 while maintaining a permanent ban on smoking, campfires and portable stoves. Drought conditions continue in the Děčín area, though recent rain has eased the situation elsewhere in northern Bohemia.
Four years ago a massive fire in the Malinový důl area near Hřensko burned more than 1,000 hectares. Park officials, led by spokesperson Tomáše Salova, say the ecosystem is recovering and that fire‑prevention measures now exceed legal requirements for forest owners.
