Czech Republic energy consumers prioritize security and stability

Surveys conducted by Revido via Ipsos and the E.ON Sustainability Barometer reveal a significant shift in how Czech citizens approach energy consumption and supplier selection. Following geopolitical conflicts in Eastern Europe, energy security and supply reliability have become paramount.

Approximately 94% of respondents consider it vital that an energy supplier is not at risk of sudden cessation of operations, with nearly half prioritizing financial stability alongside or even above price. This caution stems from past experiences with the collapse of smaller suppliers and the resulting complications for customers. Consequently, 25.5% of respondents stated they would not switch to an unknown supplier regardless of potential savings.

Regarding energy sources, there is growing support for the construction of new nuclear power plants, while support for wind energy has weakened. About 46% of Czechs view dependence on energy imports from unstable or politically risky regions as a major threat to future supplies. Additionally, 44% of respondents identified energy independence as the greatest benefit of future energy sector changes.
