Czech Republic expands highway network with D3 and D35 updates
Major highway infrastructure projects in the Czech Republic are reaching new milestones. The D3 motorway is expanding, with a new section between Kaplice and Kaplice Nádraží expected to open this November. This development aims to improve connections toward the Austrian border and alleviate transit traffic in Dolní Dvořiště. The final missing segment between Nažidly and the connected sections is projected for completion in June of next year.
Simultaneously, a 6.2-kilometer section of the D35 motorway has opened between Ostrov and Vysoký Mýty. This expansion serves as a step toward creating an alternative route to the heavily congested D1 motorway. Local officials in Stradoně and Ostrov anticipate that the new section will significantly reduce noise and traffic congestion in their municipalities. The full completion of the D35 remains dependent on the progress of the Homole tunnel, which is scheduled to open in mid-next year.
