Czech Republic faces rising mental health and workplace stress challenges

A recent survey by PAQ Research reveals that nearly one-third of adults in the Czech Republic have used generative artificial intelligence to manage their mental health. Among respondents aged 18 to 34, this figure rises to over 50%. While users seek AI for stress management and information, experts warn of significant risks. Approximately 30.7% of respondents have used AI as a direct substitute for professional care, and 13.4% admitted to delaying medical help due to AI advice. Most alarmingly, 8.4% of users changed their prescribed medication based on AI recommendations.

Parallel to the rise in technology use, workplace stress is reaching critical levels in the Czech Republic. Research indicates that over 60% of employees experience frequent stress, with 40% reporting an increase in stress levels over the past year. Despite the impact on performance and motivation, many employees remain silent; three-quarters of respondents did not discuss their mental health at work in the last year. Financial necessity is a primary driver, with 69% of Czech workers continuing to work despite exhaustion, a significantly higher rate than in neighboring Austria.
